This is my scalpel and unique veneer saw, that just came in today.

Is this common to use?

Hi bigrob777;

That is a very unique veneer saw.

Where did you find it, and why do you use it instead of the standard saw as custom1veneer shows?

Lee,
I haven't ever used a veneer saw and it looked pretty handy to use. It may not turn out to be very good, but it was only twenty bucks. I was outbid on ebay, with bids up to forty bucks. I got it as a "2nd offer", for my high bid, which was the listed price of twenty. I'd hate to be the people who paid more. It does look like it'll be easy to use, but I have no experience to back that up. If it doesn't work, I'll just buy a regular veneering saw. I may buy one anyway. I hve to watch the angle of cut with this one.

I bought this saw, before I found any veneering forums and was basically clueless. The other saw looks clunky, but it is probably easier to use, for a straight line. I have huge paws and will likely find myself using the bulkier saw.

Hi!

I have done a very small amount of veneering and have much to learn. So I plan to check in from time to time as a lurker. It certainly looks like nice forum software. I'll have to try the search after I find my way around here.

Hi Guys;

This is the home office we made the desk for. Both side of the room are book matched to each other. The grain is identical on opposing columns and cabinets.

The hardware was stainless steel.

The final carpet was black and really looked good.

Thanks Craig;

I was just drooling over your posts, both the raw veneers and the finished work.

These pictures are the process of seemingly out of control, to ready for the bag, to finished.

All parts were cut with a scalpel.
